Minecraft film 'set to hit silver screen'

The block-building game Minecraft is extremely popular, could soon be turned into a film.
Markus Persson, Minecraft creator has revealed this week that Warner Brothers was in conversation with him about the project.
Mr. Persson said he revealed the details to deter another person who tried to leak information about the transaction.
Movie news site Deadline reported that one of the producers of the Lego Movie is in charge of the project.
Warner was planning to transform the "live action" version of the game into a feature film, said Deadline.
The film's production is in a very infancy stage since Warner just recently purchased the rights to use Minecraft's iconic blocks, characters and monsters.
This announcement comes less than two months after Mojang, Minecraft creator, has shut down a Kickstarter campaign to raise money to make a film inspired by the game.
Film adaptations of top-selling games have a rocky history in Hollywood and many projects do not make it past the initial planning stage.
A movie based in the science-fictional Halo universe, for instance is in development for the past nine years, but filming has not yet begin despite numerous scripts being written.
Similar films based on Bioshock and Gears of War have been discussed, but no film has started filming.
World of Warcraft is a game that is being developed into a movie. Filming began in January with Duncan Jones, a British director. The film will be released in the beginning of 2016.
